Dyslexia is often missed in gifted children because other cognitive strengths and abilities (excellent memory, problem solving etc.) compensate for reading difficulties although visual and auditory processing difficulties, writing problems etc. remain.
Michael's spatial talent is also a common strength that appears among gifted dyslexic students.
