This is a popular keyboarding software for many students. The on-screen keyboard and cartoon hands seems to help students learn the position of keys.

Follow up question...

I am looking for support for my 6-year-old child in these areas:

  • mastering the rules of phonics
  • sequencing (she seems to process auditory input out-of-sequence, reads letters out-of-sequence, and even composes math equations out-of-sequence)
  • identifying all the component sounds in words (unsure about the level of deficit in this area.  Seems slight)

I was looking at the Fast for Words and Earobics that you mention in the book.  It seems like this Talking Fingers program might address some of the same areas, but I am not sure.  What do you think?

You're welcome Jennifer! Having hands on the screen is helpful for this one. For older students, some say Typing Instructor is ok.

Thank you for posting this.  I know I need to get my child keyboarding, but I didn't know where to start except for this website and searched for "keyboarding."  Voila!  Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom Drs. Eide!
