I am new to this site and just learning my way around.  My daughter fits perfectly into the stealth dyslexic definition.  She is 10 and in the 4th grade.  She does very well in school, but begs to be home schooled.  I am just looking for folks with real life experience with some of the issues she is facing.

I have posted on the forum page a question about spelling help.  She is very bored with Barton.  Any comments would be appreciated.

My question here is about use of speech to text programs for writing.  Does anyone use them at this age.  She had homework the other day requiring a lot of definitions copied to make flash cards.  The flash cards were so hard to read (and took a long time), they did not help with studying.  Her teacher is very okay with her typing any assignment like this in the future.  Anyone with experience along these lines????

Re: Flashcards, we use Flashcardexchange.com which allows you to make flashcards for free - or with a one-time fee, allows you more options. There is a Iphone app which is convenient.

Many 4th grades use Write Outloud - and our son started using it in the 1st grade.

Many public school have the software available.
Thanks. I will check that out at her school.
hi my son is in second grade and like that, was very social.I sent him to a intensive learning school(Linda Mood Bell) for four months,he loved it and now it at grade level(apart from math).they have all ranges of kids in there and some go after school for two hours. It is very costly, but if you go for the group(might only be two kids)it works out at more than half the price.it changed Aaron totally and I cannot say enough about the place....
